about

This album is decidedly "lo-fi". All the tracks were recorded sometime during the 1990s, using one microphone (Shure 58), plugged into a small, portable, cassette recorder (JVC).

In the 80s and 90s I regularly recorded all my spontaneous song ideas onto cassette, using just one microphone for both my guitar and vocals. I recorded hundreds of spontaneous songs that way, so I can't always remember the exact year that I recorded a particular track. I think these particular tracks were all recorded in the mid to late 90s. Some were composed as I played them, but most had been written beforehand, sometimes several years earlier.

All of these tracks were written and played by me, at home, in Toronto.

about

The Undecidable Toronto, Ontario

The photo above was taken in 1988. I began recording at home in high school (1985). I also sang in The Grendels (1988/89) and Vine (1992). In the 80s and 90s I used various names on my solo releases, including Moving Camera, Mark De Plume, and my "real" name, Paul Waliczky. I've been explicitly calling myself The Undecidable since the early 2000s. ... more
